Newsboys United
Playing to capacity audiences during a history-making string of spring and summer shows, the unprecedented “Newsboys United Tour” has been extended through the end of the year. Encompassing 40 more U.S. cities this fall, an initial slate of dates was announced today, with additional shows forthcoming. Click here for the "Newsboys United Tour" schedule.
Showcasing “all the hits... under one roof... for one tour,” the “Newsboys United Tour” is set to play a total of 100 shows in 2018. The fall outing will kick-off September 17 in Buffalo, New York, hitting Washington, D.C.; Seattle; Nashville, Tennessee; Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Trenton, New Jersey, among numerous other cities, before concluding in December. Comprised of current members Michael Tait, Duncan Phillips, Jeff Frankenstein and Jody Davis, along with former bandmates Peter Furler and Phil Joel, the mega-group spans the decades delivering hit after hit, from recent chart-toppers “God’s Not Dead” and “We Believe” to such classics as “Shine” and “Entertaining Angels.”
“We've been so encouraged and humbled at the response from Newsboys fans, not just in the cities we've visited but from people all over the world,” said Newsboys’ Jeff Frankenstein. “This is so much more than just a tour, it's a celebration of different eras, individuals and the songs that have brought us together.”
Sponsored by ChildFund and produced by Premier Productions in partnership with the Newsboys, the fall leg of the “Newsboys United Tour” will once again feature special guest Word recording artist Zealand—founded and fronted by Phil Joel—as well as a special appearance by singer/songwriter Adam Agee.
One of the most influential bands in Christian music history, Newsboys have sold more than 8 million units and amassed eight Gold® certifications, 33 #1 radio hits, four GRAMMY® nominations, two American Music Award nominations and multiple Dove Awards. Comprised of Michael Tait (lead vocals), Jody Davis (guitar), Jeff Frankenstein (keys) and Duncan Phillips (drums), Newsboys’ signature songs include “We Believe,” “He Reigns,” “Miracles,” “Born Again” and their Platinum®-certified mega hit, “God’s Not Dead.” The latter inspired one of the most popular Christian film franchises of all time.
Pollstar magazine ranks Premier Productions as the largest producer of live Christian events both nationally and all over the world. More than 18 million people have attended a Premier event in over 4,000 concerts worldwide. Premier promotes Tours for Hillsong UNITED, Hillsong Worship, Young & Free, Kari Jobe, Jesus Culture, Lecrae, Lauren Daigle, Gaither Homecoming, Sadie Robertson, Newsboys, comedian John Crist, Rend Collective, as well as their annual Winter Jam Tour Spectacular and OUTCRY Tours. Zealand

The journey to Zealand has been a wild and adventurous one that no one anticipated. Led by Phil Joel, best known for his long-standing role as bass player and vocalist for the multi platinum- selling band Newsboys, and as a solo artist, the band has been faithfully traversing a road that has been as unscripted and unexpected as it has been ordained.

When Phil left Newsboys after 13 years, it wasn’t long before the phone started ringing and ministry opportunities began to emerge throughout the United States, New Zealand, Australia and even China. Early on, I was asked to lead worship for a series of youth conferences, shares Phil. At first I wasn’t sure if I was the man for the job. I knew I wanted to be involved in more hands-on ministry, but worship leading wasn’t on my radar. I guess my radar doesn’t always match Gods. He’s sneaky like that.

Without even realizing it, Phils perspective began to shift, opening his eyes to a new understanding about worship and his role in it. It was like the lights came on for me, he explains. I realized that leading worship is all about leading people’s hearts to a place far beyond a stage or a melody. True worship isn’t just about a moment; it’s about having an encounter with God that becomes a lasting movement in peoples lives.

For the past few years, Phil and fellow band mates, Ben Bugna (drums), Ben Garrett (guitar) and recent addition Roger Angove (bass) have been operating off the grid, going where they have felt led, ministering where they have been invited, under the radar and outside of the spotlight. It’s been a season of growth and preparation for the next chapter, which is aptly entitled Zealand.

Regarding the bands name, Phil explains, my cousin Roger and I are from New Zealand but the name isn’t about a country; it’s about a state “a state of being zealous for the land God has for each one of us, starting with our relationship with Him".

Raucous, invigorating and deep, Zealand is taking the next step as authentically as it can, staying true to their sound and their mission. Since signing with Word, in May 2015, the band released a EP in 2016 and are set to launch in 2018 with the release of their first full length album 'Liberated' in February, and will be able to be heard and experienced live on the road opening for the Newsboys United Tour 2018.

"We're super excited to be out on the road with Zealand opening for Newsboys United and to have the chance to share the new music and ministry with the wild and crazy Newsie crowds."

**Artist Subject To Change**

Since the early 2000s, Adam Agee has performed over 2,000 shows in 20+ countries, sold over 500,000 records, had multiple number one singles, and won several awards in the music world; but if you ask him, he would rather talk to you about the immaculate golf course he just played, or the lively game of pick-up basketball he was in today, or his little kiddos and what they’re up to. He loves music, but doesn’t let it define him. “I love to write songs about life and a huge part of my life is my faith. The goal is to create great music with lyrics that encourage and challenge instead of tear down. I want people to like my music, but even if they don’t, my family loves me and Jesus loves me and that’s what’s most important.”

He began his musical journey in church, playing and singing in the worship band. He and his friends in the youth group formed the band Stellar Kart and played at youth events all over Arizona and the southwest. The group signed their first major record contract in 2003 and went on to make 7 studio albums and 3 EPs. In 2014, Adam got an offer from the iconic Christian Rock group Audio Adrenaline to front the band. He accepted and joined the band, immediately falling in love with the ministry they had started called the Hands and Feet Project in the country of Haiti. As a result of multiple trips to Haiti and seeing the ministry first hand, he began to speak about his experiences from stage. Now, along with being a touring musician, Agee is also an advocate for child sponsorship and humanitarian organizations. He’s just released his first solo ‘ep “Paper Planes” to rave reviews.
